DC Everest and Mosinee high school students teamed up for another year with the Wausau Habitat for Humanity to build homes for two deserving families. County Materials Corporation continued their support for the chapter’s annual builds by donating ready-mix concrete for the foundation and basement of both homes.

“Habitat for Humanity of Wausau has enjoyed a partnership with County Materials that spans more than 20 years,” said Berland Meyer, Chair for the Wausau Habitat for Humanity’s Construction Division. “County Materials’ generous donations have helped many families enjoy the experience of owning their own home and assisted us with keeping the homes we build affordable.”

County Materials poured the ready-mix on May 12, 2017 with sections of the house delivered from the schools later that day and throughout the week. The students built half of each home at their school, then the sections were transported to the construction site. These homes were the 63rd and 64th projects Wausau Habitat for Humanity has completed in the community; the high schools have been involved in more than 10 of these projects.

The annual build offers students enrolled in Technical Education classes at both schools a hands-on learning experience with the added benefit of helping the community.
